One of multiple videos I made for Dave Douglas from his recording session. He just gave me a lot creative latitude. This video features my “banal time lapses” that I shot around my house and in Edgewater, MD.

Maybe the most fun shoot ever. The kids from John Dore Performing arts charter school in DC wrote a rap song about cyber security. I remember that the morning of the shoot only one kid showed up and Brendan and a teacher had to drive around the neighborhood finding the other kids. Also, this song is too catchy. I sing it almost every day.

The project that started my collaboration with Brendan Canty. An attempt to document a slice of a local music scene and it’s temporal nature. We would choose a local curator in a particular city to select bands, each band would play one song in a house that was soon to be demolished or burned by the fire department, we would film the houses’ destruction, and put out a DVD. We put out DC, Chicago, Portland, Seattle and (released 10 years later) Atlanta.

A document of Eddie Vedder’s live solo show at the Warner Theater in DC interspersed with behind the scenes vignettes and scenes. I hung off of a lot of boats for this film and found out that beach dogs in Hawaii eat coconuts.

A document of an amazing festival that Wilco puts on every other year at Mass Moca in the Berkshires. Mass Moca is a modern art museum that is situated in an old electronics factory in the town of North Adams, Massachusetts. Right when we were wrapping up we found out that our local drivers had worked in the factory before it closed down and we were able to capture their stories and include them in the film.

A tour through iconic Southern music venues with Wilco. Some meditation on a changing America and really beautiful Wilco performances. I will never forget hanging Eric Martin out of the back of the minivan with a Varicam to get the shot of the Mississippi bridge.
